ORIGIN
OF THE IDEA, CDH
The concept and the idea of CDH was evolved
by Jacob Peenikaparambil CMI based on his experience in the field of Social
Work for about 22 years, 16 years at the grass root level rural development and
6 years as a facilitator of projects support by Karl Kubel Stiftung (KKS) Germany
in his capacity as the Executive Secretary of Cyriac Elias Voluntary Association
(CEVA). Development initiatives to be successful and sustainable
in the context of India should have three components:
1)
Empowerment of the target population through Community
Based Organizations.
2)
Harmony among different religions and communities.
3) Environmental protection.
Hence the Vision of CDH was conceived as contributing to the evolution of a development
strategy and approach based on the above mentioned three components.
His contact with many NGOs in different parts of the country
as a facilitator of KKS supported projects in India made him aware of the importance
of adopting professional approach in Social Work. The CDH was started to motivate
Social Work groups/organizations for adopting professional approach as well as to
provide professional support.
